Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The journal accepts the following types of manuscripts:
    * Full Research Articles: Maximum 9,000 words (including references, excluding tables/figures).
    * Short Communications: Maximum 2,000 words and up to 4 tables or figures.
    * Review Articles: A maximum of 2 review articles per issue will be considered. Authors are advised to contact the editorial office before submitting a review.
  • All submissions must include properly formatted references in accordance with APA 7th edition style. Manuscripts that do not comply with the reference formatting requirements may be returned for revision prior to peer review.
  • Authors must prepare their manuscripts in accordance with the Author Guidelines. To facilitate this process, a Word template has been provided and should be used when preparing submissions.

Author Guidelines

Authors are required to prepare their submissions in accordance with the journal’s official template. This ensures consistency and facilitates the editorial and peer-review process.

Formatting

  • Language: English
  • Font: Times New Roman, 12 pt, 1.15-line spacing.
  • File Types: Editable .doc/.docx
  • Structure: Title (Title Case, Heading1), Author(s) (First name Last name), Abstract (150–250 words), Keywords (5–7 keywords, lowercase, comma-separated), Introduction, Methodology, Results, Discussion and Limitations, Conclusions and Future Work, Conflict of Interest, Author Contributions, Funding, Acknowledgments, Ethical Statements, Data and Code Availability, Supplementary Materials, References (APA 7 format)

Figures/Tables

  • High-resolution (300 DPI), numbered, and captioned.
  • Cited in text before placement
  • Captions below figures/tables
  • Format: SVG, EPS, PNG, JPEG
  • Provide as separate files if possible

Article Sections
Organize your manuscript using numbered sections and subsections (1, 1.1, 1.1.1, etc.). Each subsection heading should appear on its own line. Do not include the abstract in section numbering.

Technology Section

The Technology Section of the Journal of Defence and Security Industries: Technology and Strategy (JDSI) welcomes original research articles, technical notes, and applied studies that contribute to the advancement of technologies within the defense and security domains.

This section welcomes contributions in areas such as defense-related engineering, systems development, autonomous platforms, and digital technologies.

Policy Section

The Policy Section of the Journal of Defence and Security Industries: Technology and Strategy (JDSI) focuses on strategic, institutional, and policy-oriented research that addresses the evolving needs of the defense and security landscape.

This section includes, but is not limited to, studies on defense strategy, national security policy, industrial cooperation, procurement frameworks, and geopolitical risk analysis.
